Over time this developed into our indigenous entrepreneurial lifestyle. As servants of Te Ao Māori, we are enriched daily and believe sharing this nourishment will navigate Global wellness through a Māori lens. AUAHA aids to the vital retention of Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga and Māori customs for the present and beyond. We have triumphed with teams based nationally and internationally and specialise in a range of Māori facets. AUAHA Directors – Concept Creators

Andre Ahipene (Te Arawa, Tainui, Taranaki)

From Rotorua – Aotearoa NZ, Chief Director Andre Ahipene was born into the cultural entertainment world of Rotorua tourism and has been nurtured by his Kaumatua, Hapu and Iwi. Andre’s upbringing has provided opportunity in choreographing traditional and contemporary Maori Performing Arts and has led him to all his achievements.

Andre’s experience to date has involved many cultural core group environments and his contribution to Haka Taparahi, Rakau Matarua, Koau Maro, Whakaaro Maori is due to his union with Te Arawa Tikanga & Kawa. Andre’s current efforts within AUAHA focus on creativity as a stimulant for wellbeing. This has surged the concept of global wellness through a Māori lens and strives for memorable encounters that assist in the retention and wellbeing of our historical Maori world.

With the many leadership opportunities Andre has been provided, he has been fortunate to serve several national and international events such as, 2016/2018 & 2020 NRL Indigenous All Stars Youth Summit. This has been a major highlight to date because of the indigenous connection renewed with Te Iwi Taketake(Indigenous people of Australia) and the opportunity to continuously share the Tuākana/Tēina customary relationship. Andre’s inclusion was dedicated to injecting cultural wealth, life values and discipline within wellbeing. Andre’s greatest achievement in life is becoming a Father of four beautiful children and Husband to his loving wife Gaylene.

Gaylene Ahipene (Ngati Porou)

Gaylene is a Māori Performing Arts Degree graduate of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and majored in Drama. Gaylene’s passion to recognise the potential in Māori performing arts as a vehicle to ignite ultimate potential. Gaylene was fortunate to travel internationally through Europe, Hawaii & Salt Lake City – Utah with one of renowned Rangatira Tommy Taurima and the NZ Young Ambassadors in 2003 – 2004. Gaylene, Managing Director of AUAHA has extensive experience in motivating performers to achieve their greatest desires in life, through the values and disciplines of Kapahaka. Gaylene’s expertise in Poi, Mōteatea and Haka wahine have allowed her to be recognised as an inspiration and Rangatira of these respected disciplines. As creator and director of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa Māori Myths & Legends – theatre Production, Gaylene was held in national high regard for her research and development. Gaylene is a loving mother of four gorgeous children and wife of an honoured husband Andre.
